A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director General of the alleged fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), after he repeatedly failed to appear before the court.
Justice Muhammed Umar issued a bench warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest during proceedings after his lawyer informed the court that he had been unable to persuade his client to attend the hearing.
Court Orders Arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi
During the proceedings, defence counsel Genesis Francis told the court that Adeyemi had refused to appear because he feared for his safety.
According to the lawyer, his client had earlier expressed those concerns in an open letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, claiming that the issues surrounding the case had attracted nationwide attention and left him concerned about his security.
Despite the explanation, the court proceeded to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
Judge Cites Repeated Failure to Appear
In his ruling, Justice Umar noted that criminal charges against Adeyemi were filed on November 27, 2025, while trial commenced on December 4, 2025.
The judge observed that the defendant appeared in court only once after the charges were filed and had since failed to attend four consecutive court sessions despite several adjournments.
Justice Umar ruled that the repeated absence justified the issuance of a bench warrant to compel the defendant’s appearance before the court.
Case Adjourned to September
Following the ruling, the Federal High Court adjourned the matter until September 30 for further proceedings.
The case is expected to continue after security agencies execute the court’s order and produce the defendant before the court.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the allegations surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), while the case remains before the court.
