The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the alleged killing of a 20-year-old man by police personnel. The officers were attached to a police outpost under the Misau Division in Misau Local Government Area.
Command spokesperson Nafiu Habib disclosed the Bauchi police killing probe in a statement made available on Tuesday. According to the statement, the command’s attention was drawn to reports circulating on social media. Those reports alleged that operatives at the outpost assaulted a young man while interrogating him in connection with a case under investigation.
Victim Identified as Abdullahi Adamu
Police identified the deceased as Abdullahi Adamu, 20, of Sebore Village, Hardawa District. Habib said doctors initially admitted the victim to the Federal Medical Centre, Misau, before referring him to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi. He died there on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while receiving treatment.
Habib said Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu had expressed concern over the allegation. The commissioner stressed that the command remained committed to professionalism, respect for human rights and due process.
Commissioner Orders Full-Scale Investigation
“In line with this, the commissioner has immediately ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement read. “The command is committed to ensuring that justice is served and that appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against any personnel found culpable in accordance with the provisions of the law.”
The command extended its condolences to the deceased’s family and prayed for the repose of his soul. It also appealed to members of the public with useful information to come forward and cooperate with investigators.
