The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of 48 Malami forfeited properties to the Federal Government.
The assets are linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in what stands as one of the EFCC’s biggest non-conviction-based asset recovery cases.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled on Wednesday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had established that the assets were reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.
The judge found that Malami and other respondents failed to prove the properties were acquired with legitimate sources of income.
What the Forfeited Assets IncludeThe forfeited assets span Abuja, Kebbi and Kano States. They include Rayhaan University, Rayhaan Radio, Meethaq Hotels in Maitama and Jabi, Zeennoor Hotel, Azbir Arena and its associated businesses, the Rayhaan Agro Allied Factory, luxury homes, commercial plazas, filling stations, warehouses, shops, factories, large parcels of land, and several other residential and commercial properties.
