The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two men suspected of being members of a kidnapping syndicate operating around Molege community in Owo Local Government Area.
The suspects were arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a man identified as Abubakar Abdullahim, who was reportedly abducted at Molege, near Owo, on August 1, 2026. The police said the arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by officers from the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Akure.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, police operatives first travelled to Ibadan, Oyo State, where they worked with the Oyo State Police Command to arrest one of the suspects, Adamu Rabiu.
The second suspect, identified as Haruna Likita, was later arrested around Ipele, near Owo, Ondo State, in connection with the same kidnapping case. The police said preliminary investigations have established links between the two suspects and Abdullahim’s abduction.
During interrogation, both suspects reportedly made statements admitting their alleged involvement in the crime. Police said the statements and other intelligence gathered are being examined as investigators work to determine the full circumstances of the kidnapping.
Authorities are also investigating the wider structure of the alleged syndicate and searching for other people who may have been involved.The suspects are expected to be charged to court after the investigation is completed.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to help prevent kidnappings and other criminal activities across the state.
