When it comes to love, we dare say that nothing happens by chance. It is often the beautiful result of hearts aligning at just the right time for something truly special. For the lovely Kelechi, the very year she caught the bouquet at her friend’s wedding turned out to be the same year she met her soulmate, Frank!

Eight years later, so much has evolved, yet the most important things have remained the same… the warmth in their smiles, the tenderness in their love, and the unmistakable glow they carry whenever they’re together.

What began as two hearts vowing to love each other forever has now blossomed into a beautiful family of five. This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating a love that has grown deeper, stronger, and even more radiant with time. Here’s how their sweet fairytale, Kelechi:

They say that most times, we find love in places where we never even imagined. It all started when I caught the bouquet at my friend’s wedding on the 10th of December 2016. For some reason, I took it really personally and seriously. I was like, “God, is this a sign?” I remember even praying over it that night. Fast forward to some weeks later, I went for a church programme in Delta state and a friend of mine whom I bumped into said she wanted to introduce me to someone. In my mind, I was over it because I was kind of used to that referral shenanigans, but who would have thought it could be how I would meet my other half?

She introduced us, but the truth is, meeting him for the first time, I was smitten even though I never showed. He was also smitten. Trust me, we got talking, and I have never felt such a way with any man on meeting for the first time. In my mind, I was like,e “Hmm, Chineke, God, are you telling me something?”. Trust me, there and then, I already made up my mind that this is the kind of man I would like to spend the rest of my life with.

What was marriage like in your early years, and how has it evolved over the past 8 years?

In the early years, marriage felt like excitement mixed with discovery. We were learning from each other in a deeper way – not just as partners in love, but as partners in life. There were adjustments, growth moments, and lots of laughter in between. Over the past eight years, it has evolved into something steadier and more intentional. We’ve grown into a rhythm of understanding, patience, and choosing each other daily – even on the ordinary days.

When you look at each other today, what makes you feel most grateful for this journey you share?

Gratitude comes from knowing we’ve grown – individually and together. We’ve seen different seasons of life, and through each one, we’ve remained a team. I’m grateful for the friendship at the centre of our marriage. It makes everything else easier.

What are some small habits or traditions that have kept your bond strong over the years?

We talk – a lot. Even about the little things. We make time to laugh, to check in with each other, and to celebrate small wins. We also try not to let disagreements last longer than they should.

If you could relive one date, trip, or fun activity from your marriage, which would it be and why?

It would be one of our early trips together. There was something special about experiencing a new place with fresh eyes as a married couple. It reminded us that at the heart of everything, we genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
