Tinubu to Unveil N2.4tn Abuja City Walk Project on Thursday

President Bola Tinubu will unveil the N2.4 trillion Abuja City Walk project on Thursday, marking the official commencement of construction on one of Nigeria’s largest mixed use urban developments.

The Abuja City Walk project, a 250 hectare development located along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport corridor in the Federal Capital Territory, is expected to transform Abuja into a major destination for investment, tourism and business.

The unveiling ceremony is scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Plot 28, Cadastral Zone C17, Industrial Area II, Abuja.

Tinubu to Launch Abuja City Walk Project

The Abuja City Walk project is being developed by MAG Group, the parent company of MAG International Links Limited, in partnership with Link Developments.

During the event, Link Developments is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi royal Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid bin Turki Al Saud, who will also address investors attending the ceremony.

The Nigeria Arab Gulf Chamber of Commerce is also expected to participate, highlighting growing investment interest from Gulf based institutions in Nigeria’s real estate sector.

Abuja City Walk Project to Feature Africa’s Tallest Tower

The Abuja City Walk project is located within a Federal Government designated Free Trade Zone created to attract long term foreign investment through tax incentives and favourable business regulations.

Designed by internationally renowned architecture firm Benoy, the master plan includes a 450 metre skyscraper expected to become Africa’s tallest building.

The landmark tower will house commercial offices, luxury apartments and hospitality facilities.

The development will also feature a 13,000 seat indoor arena, which is projected to become Nigeria’s largest indoor venue for sports, concerts and entertainment events.

In addition, the project will include an arts district offering approximately 12,000 square metres of exhibition and performance spaces.

Sustainable Design at the Heart of Abuja City Walk

A key attraction of the Abuja City Walk project is The Living Ravine, an ecological corridor built around a sustainable Sponge District concept.

The environmental design incorporates wetlands, green waterways and rainwater harvesting systems to improve flood control and climate resilience.

According to reports, the ecological corridor has already been shortlisted for the 2026 World Landscape Architecture Awards.

FCT Reforms Paved the Way for Development

The project gained momentum following reforms introduced by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under Minister Nyesom Wike.

The land, originally allocated to the Abuja Technology Village, had remained largely undeveloped for more than two decades before the FCTA completed outstanding approvals, issued the Certificate of Occupancy and committed to constructing access roads to the site.

Following these approvals, the developers agreed to execute the project through a phased construction plan.

Wike Says Project Will Boost Investment and Jobs

The joint venture agreement for the Abuja City Walk project was signed in June 2025, with developers describing it as a world class mixed use district combining residential, commercial, hospitality, entertainment and cultural facilities.

Speaking on the project, Wike said the development aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by attracting foreign investment and creating employment opportunities for Nigerians.

He noted that the site had remained idle for over 20 years and expressed confidence that the project would unlock the area’s economic potential.

Wike also compared the planned development to Dubai’s famous City Walk, saying Abuja stands to benefit significantly from a similar investment that will enhance the capital city’s global appeal.
