Nigeria’s Security Is Not One Man’s Responsibility; All Of Us Are In It – Tinubu

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has called on citizens to sustain the values of discipline, compassion and unity cultivated during Ramadan, warning that national peace and security cannot be left in the hands of the government alone.

Speaking after the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Dodan Barracks Eid Ground in Lagos, marking the end of Ramadan, Tinubu stressed that Nigerians must continue the virtues of charity, love and good neighbourliness beyond the holy month.

“We thank Almighty God for guiding us through Ramadan. But the lessons and sacrifices must not end with the month. The spirit of giving, peace and love for one another must continue,” he said.

The president emphasised that security remains a shared responsibility, urging citizens to be vigilant and volunteer useful information to authorities.

“The stability and security of this nation is not the responsibility of one man alone. We are all involved. We must be ready to provide information — sensitive information — about suspicious movements and activities across the country,” Tinubu stated.

He also urged Nigerians to obey the laws of the land and embrace peaceful coexistence across religious and ethnic lines, describing Nigeria as a model of diversity that must be preserved.

According to him, despite differences in religious practices, both Muslims and Christians worship the same God and must therefore live in harmony.“Our diversity is our strength. We

We must accept one another as brothers and sisters. Whether through Islam or Christianity, we all serve one God. Let us reflect this in how we treat one another,” he added.

Tinubu further called for prayers for national peace and stability, urging citizens to contribute positively to society and support one another, especially the vulnerable.Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a month observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer and acts of charity.
