The Delta State Government has approved the permanent payment of a 13th-month salary for civil servants, making it a statutory welfare benefit for workers across the state.
The approval was granted during the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in Asaba. Speaking after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the council approved the governor’s memo to institutionalise the annual 13th-month salary as a permanent entitlement for state civil servants.
In addition to the salary initiative, the state government announced plans to recruit more teachers into public secondary schools and improve facilities in technical colleges as part of efforts to strengthen the education sector and enhance workers’ welfare.
The announcement has attracted positive reactions from many Nigerians, with several commending Governor Oborevwori for the decision to improve the welfare of public servants.
