A female student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), identified as Ademola, has alleged that she was assaulted during the invasion of students’ hostels by soldiers from the Army Depot in Osogbo.
Speaking in a video shared by OsunDefenderNG, the student said she was alone in her hostel room preparing a meal when she noticed soldiers around the area. She initially believed the situation had calmed down before the officers allegedly returned.
According to her, the soldiers ordered her to open her door and questioned how many people were inside the room. She said she informed them that her roommate was not present.
Ademola alleged that one of the soldiers then became physically aggressive, pinning her against the bathroom door and making inappropriate remarks while warning her not to shout. She said she pleaded with the soldier and eventually managed to free herself and move toward the door. She further alleged that another soldier entered the room and attempted to restrain her.
The incident follows reports that soldiers from the Army Depot, Osogbo, stormed student hostels on Monday evening, allegedly assaulting several students and carting away more than 60 mobile phones and other electronic devices. Some female students also alleged they were stripped and subjected to degrading treatment during the raid.
Authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement addressing the allegations, while calls for a full investigation into the incident continue to grow.
