The Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria (AMCRON) has announced that it will host its sixth International Academic Conference and Annual General Meeting to examine the evolving relationship between the media, democracy, and Nigeria’s electoral process.
The two-day conference is scheduled to hold on November 25 and 26, 2026, at the Department of Mass Communication and Media Technology, Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The conference will be held under the theme: “Beyond the Inverted Pyramid Formula: Democracy, the Media, the Politicians and the People in Nigeria’s General Elections. ”According to AMCRON President, Prof. Eserinune Mojaye, the event will bring together journalists, media professionals, politicians, political parties, academics, policymakers, social researchers, and other stakeholders to discuss the media’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
The association said discussions will focus on key issues such as strategic communication, digital media, media ownership, public trust, and the credibility of election-related information.
AMCRON’s Director of Networking and Publicity, Dr. Kehinde Oyesomi, noted that the conference will also explore media framing, digital propaganda, fact-checking, and the growing influence of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, on public opinion, electoral integrity, and national stability.
The organisers say the conference aims to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue on improving the interaction between the media, political actors, and citizens to support credible elections and democratic governance in Nigeria.
