The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has directed all registered companies to comply with statutory requirements governing business letterheads by August 1, 2026, warning that defaulters will face sanctions.
The directive is in line with Sections 304(1) and (2) and 729(1)(c) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and applies to all companies registered under the Act or any previous law it replaced.
Under the law, companies must include on their business letters the present forename or initials and surname of each director, any former forename and surname where applicable, and the nationality of every non-Nigerian director.
Companies are also required to display their registered company name, registration number, and registered office address clearly on all official business correspondence.
The CAC urged companies to review their letterheads and other official documents to ensure full compliance before the deadline.
According to the commission, the enforcement is aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and compliance with the Companies and Allied Matters Act, while ensuring that companies provide accurate information about their directors and corporate identity in official communications.
